auditorium and OT-entries in 5 weeks instead of 5 months

In Benghazi, Libya’s second city, we achieved a hospital project, which in the Netherlands would have a turnaround time of 5 months, in 5 weeks. This entailed opening the hospital with neither accessible operating theatres nor an auditorium.

Upon receiving the commission (Friday) the design was created and visualized before booking the flight, during the actual flight there (Saturday) and in the hotel room later that same evening. Being on location (Sunday) showed up a number of differences, which were incorporated within an hour, after which the commissions for engineering and construction were extended.

The following day (Monday) the commission was reinforced by the provision of local building labour and utilities services works, and with the delivery of window and door frames, doors, ceilings, furnishings, multi-media apparatus and flooring from the Netherlands. All of which occurred just as the Dutch building industry’s ’factory fortnight’ vacation period ended.

Within two weeks cargo flights were fully loaded and bound for Libya, containing materials not available locally. In the last two of the five week we travelled in two groups to Libya, and all materials were then delivered, fitted, installed and ready to go.

We had designed, engineered, ordered, delivered, fitted, installed and realized the project exactly within the set timeframe of 5 weeks. This was made possible thanks to success in the Netherlands and, partly due to the input of the client’s local labour pool, success in Libya.
