a hotel with the natural environment

Hospitable project execution

In the forests of the Amerongen Mountains we planned a hotel with view of the nature and setting of the surrounding forna and flora. It was possible, through part excavation of the ground, halfway into the plot, to house a basement level open to broad daylight for the building needs. We have at the same time, by suspending the mass, given the building a lightness. Through this the ground floor opened, via an embankment, the basement can be fully exploited and utilised.

The Hotel has conference room for 250, which can also be devided into 3 smaller rooms. Furthermore there are 26 rooms, of which 2 are birdal suits, 2 rooms for the disabled and 2 so-called family rooms. Last but not least, the Woodland Hotel has its own wellness centre, with solarium, sauna, Turkish baths and beauty salon.

The hotel rooms are situated as a block above the vesitbule, from which sunlight is acively captured. This provides direct sunlight and thereby less heating is required. A sedum roof provides good insulaton for the building. Thanks to the embankment and building insulation limited energy is needed for the heating and cooling of the lower ground.

Examples of sustainable applications are the rubber floors in the rooms; the use of re-cycled insulation material for the kitchen floors; that all wood used in the construction carries a certificate; and that the roof is insulated with ecological grass.
